Cairo Day Trip Overview

Cairo Close Up is a one day adventure covering all the best sites of Cairo in one day! Including the Pyramids, the National Museum and a Nile cruise. The day starts early as you are picked up from your hotel and taken to Pafos airport for an 8.00am flight to Cairo. Once you arrive in Cairo you are then driven around town and shown the sites by your guide for the day. The first stop is at the ´Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali,’ the grandest mosque in Cairo that is still in use today and benefits from fascinating skyline views over the city of Cairo.
You then proceed to the famous ‘Pyramids of Giza’ and the mighty ‘Sphinx,’ the highlight of the tour and something that is certainly regarded as once in a lifetime opportunity to view the great Pyramid of Giza, the largest of the three pyramids of the Giza necropolis and the only remaining member of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
After this you are driven to the five star ‘Le Meridien hotel’ for a buffet lunch. Back on the bus again and the next stop is the ‘Egyptian Museum’ that houses all of Egypt’s greatest artefacts including the magnificent Tut Ankh Amun collection and the somewhat scary Royal Mummies Exhibition that displays eleven unwrapped mummies!
If you haven’t already spent your money on all of the memorabilia then you have the chance to splash out in the ‘Papyrus Institute’(where you are given a short demonstration as to how papyrus is made) and the shop above that sells Egyptian gold, jewellery, scrarabs, furniture, traditional dress and I’m sure anything else you can think of.
The finale of the day is the boat ride down the Nile where you can sit back with a drink, watch some belly dancing and enjoy the music all the while trying to avoid being dragged on stage yourself. The flight back home gets you into Pafos airport at approximately 22.15 when you are taken back to your hotel for some well earned rest.
A couple of small entry fees to some of the mentioned parts are not included in the price, otherwise it is all inclusive. Adults €316 and Children €281.

    You have to go!!

    Georgia, Birmingham from Marbella

Spotted this day trip on the site and thought I had to try it. I had no idea that Cyprus was that close to Cairo and having never seen the pyrmaids and probably never likely to fly to Egypt for a holiday any time soon this was the perfect opportunity. The pyramids were amazing to see but i wouldnt go inside it was a pretty unpleasant crouched walk to this tomb and pretty dissapointing once we arrived as it looked like the inside my garage at home, I thought they could have at least left the mummy inside! The museum was also extremely interesting and containing such a wealth of valuable history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and got given a big tip by the group at the end of the day. The belly dancing on the Nile is a bit embarrassing so a little tip is to go out the back of the boat, where its open air and you can enjoy the Nile in peace... Do take lots of cash because there are lots of buying opportunities and lots of people trying to sell you things, also make sure you get a good nights sleep beforehand...we had to get up at 5.30 am and it certainly is a long day though afterwards i was happy to sit by the pool and soak up the sun for the rest of my hols. Enjoy!
